Good healthy genetics is our number one goal. Puppies whelped at Akins Labs carry a 26 Month HIP GUARANTEE. This covers any genetic problem which could prevent the puppy from being certified by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA).
In our breeding program, we only breed to sires OFA certified or pre-certified to pass the OFA. All sires and dams owned by AkinsLabs are OFA either Excellent or Good. It is impossible to 100% guarantee any pup against genetic problems. We try very hard to research the backgrounds of any sires we might breed with not owned by AkinsLabs. Once satisfied these sires are sound, and only then do we breed. We feel that by adhering to these standards,we are reducing the risk of producing a defective pup or litter.
